The Satre Group provided land use planning and landscape architecture services for this 11-acre sports park located in the Thurston neighborhood of east Springfield. Dedicated to the memory of a District Superintended from the 1960s, Bob Artz, the Bob Artz Memorial Park is home to a 3-field regulation slow-pitch softball complex, complete with a two-story restroom, concessions and 2nd floor announcer’s booth. Land use planning included annexation, zone change, wetland fill permit and site plan review. Landscape architecture services included master planning, detailed site design, and complete construction plans, details and specifications, as well as managing a competitive public bidding process, the application for and receipt of building and site construction permits and the managing of the construction phase of the project.

Completed in 1999, this now 22-year-old facility continues to serve as one of the area’s premier regulation softball complexes, often hosting regional competitions.
